2008 so far!
Since we last updated our news section RidgeView has continued to go from strength to strength. All wines in our ’05 Vintage were awarded medals in the International Wine and Spirit Challenge, The International Wine Challenge, The Decanter World Wine Awards and two Golds in the UKVA wine awards. Consequently due to fantastic reviews in the press and continuing growing interest in RidgeView we were yet again forced to place our private clients, trade customers and our retail customers on allocations. We simply can’t make as much as you’d like to drink, but we are working on it!!

The 2006 Bloomsbury is now readily available and has already won both Best Sparkling and Best in Show at the 34th English Wine Festival. This will be closely followed by the release of our Cavendish and Fitzrovia Rose. With Vineyard expansions still going ahead full steam we hope with each vintage to be able to counter increased demand with a greater supply.

To make our wines more easily accessible we will also be going live with our online ordering system come November time after we have completed the 2008 harvest. This will make ordering and having those essential Christmas bottles delivered on time that little bit easier!

The latest family news is back in July Mike and Christine welcomed their 4th Grandchild Miller Maxwell – to Mardi and Simon – who now joins brother Jonah and Cousins Owen and Radley and along with the Dogs keep the house and vineyard a busy and buzzing place!

RidgeView Expansion Plans
We are currently undergoing expansion plans at RidgeView to keep up with demand. In the meantime we have appreciated our private clients and trade customer’s patience as we have had to ration sales in order to keep control on stock. We have just released our 2005 vintage which was quite a substantial vintage so we are hoping this will enable us to be more generous with our allocations. In the meantime we are still encouraging new trade albeit on limited quantities whilst the expansion plans come into fruition. RidgeView currently produces about 80,000 btls PA, this will be increased to around 300,000 by 2010.

It is not just the vineyard and winery that are expanding in size – so is the family in numbers. Mike and Chris have welcomed 3 grandchildren since 2005; Owen and Radley to Tamara and Simon; and Jonah to Mardi and Simon who also have another one on the way.

Review of 2007
RidgeView continues to go from strength to strength as the public and critics are waking up to the general renaissance of English Sparkling wines. Our commitment to quality and pride in our product is continuously being rewarded. In 2007 alone RidgeView were awarded the Best International Rosé in the French competition Rosé du Mondial 2007, a Gold medal and 8th place in Vinales Internationals (sparkling wines of the world) and most magnificently the Trophy for the Grand Prix in Gastronomy awarded by Egon Ronay and the British Academy of Gastronomes.

2007 vintage was an excellent crop with superb quality. We achieved 80% of the record harvest of 2006 which we were extremely delighted about considering that it wasn't the easiest of growing years. We put this down to excellent vineyard management by Matt Strugnell and all the lessons we have learnt over the last 10 growing seasons.
