As Tamara’s title infers she is responsible for the day to day running of the business, ensuring all areas are working together to achieve the best results.
Not much happens at Ridgeview without her knowledge.Outside of work she likes to spend as much time as possible with her two children and never turns down an opportunity to have a few drinks with friends.
Winemaker & Production Manager
A natural winemaker with a skilled palate. Simon likes minimal intervention as a Winemaker and would rather let the grapes speak for themselves. Simon gained experience in Australia at Brown Bros Winery where he met his wife Mardi and he is responsible for the day to day Winemaking at Ridgeview with a fantastic team.
In his spare time Simon can be found coming up with culinary creations in the kitchen.
Sales and Marketing Manager
Our Aussie import grew up around vines and the passion has never left her. Mardi met Simon whilst working at Brown Bros Winery in Victoria, Australia and came over to the UK with him in 1999 and began the development of the Ridgeview brand. Her responsibilities include PR, export and managing national accounts.
Mardi enjoys establishing and maintaining relationships, especially with like-minded people who make her job fun.
Simon's key tasks are to liaise with suppliers and to ensure we comply with our food safety accreditation standards (SALSA), as well as any technical requirement laid down by our customers.
To relax Simon enjoys road cycling, listening to music, spending time getting jumped on by his two boys and drinking the odd pint of Harveys.
Without fantastic grapes we have no wine and Matt Strugnell is responsible for making sure this happens. He started working for Ridgeview in 2002 and now has responsibility of all our vineyards in which he works tirelessly to ensure the highest quality fruit. Matt also provides valued advice & support to all Ridgeview’s partnership vineyards.
In his spare time he can be found star gazing or playing very loud rock guitar.
Business Development Manager
Tom joined Ridgeview in 2014 as Business Development Manager and supports Mardi in UK and Export Sales. A key focus for Tom is Ridgeview’s personal relationships with the bars and restaurants that serve our wines throughout the UK and internationally. He can often be found hosting tastings for sommeliers and trade clients both at the winery and around the world. Tom’s previous role was at The Club at The Ivy in London’s Covent Garden and he has worked in hospitality in one form or another since leaving education.
He spends his free time enjoying a return to country living with his wife Olivia and wandering between the pubs of Lewes.
Holly is instrumental in the winery and keeps check on our stock, processes and recording of data as part of her varied role. She enjoys all aspects of wine production and is futhering her knowledge part-time at Plumpton College. Holly is also very keen to assist with Ridgeview marketing and sales events whenever possible.
Outside of work Holly is a great lover of Summer festivals, spending time with friends, travelling and visiting some of England’s best restaurants.
Chief Operating Officer
Robin is an award winning winemaker, business director, wine buyer and senior wine judge. He has lived and worked in the USA, New Zealand, France and Australia in diverse roles covering many aspects of winemaking, production and management. Robin joined as COO working alongside our CEO Tamara and Winemaker Simon, to help grow our business to ½ million bottles by 2020. Robin’s vast experience and knowledge allows us to ‘future-proof’ our business and brings a fresh perspective to Ridgeview.
Robin is married to Silvia and has two daughters, Queenie and Phoebe. When he's not making great wine, he enjoys building renovation, cooking and of course drinking wine!
Production and Sales Coordinator
Oliver has been a member of the Ridgeview team since the Summer of 2008. As the Production and Sales coordinator he acts as is the key liaison between the sales and production departments at Ridgeview. This encompasses the management of wine stock throughout the production process, logistics for wine movements, sales administration & management of the PDO application process.
Oliver lists his hobbies as running, eating, sleeping and generally being cool.
As Assistant Winemaker, Rob is involved with supporting Simon and Robin with the day to day running of the winery across all production areas. Prior to starting at Ridgeview in May 2014, Rob worked for a wholesaler selling wine to restaurants in Suffolk. He is currently studying part time for a BSc in Viticulture and Oenology at Plumpton College.
Outside of work Rob can be found rock climbing and playing guitar, although never at the same time!
Retail and Events Co-ordinator
Hannah runs our tasting room and her smiling face will generally be the one to greet you on a visit to our Cellar Door. She is also the person to contact if you want more information on hiring the space for an Event or special occasion. Hannah has worked in hospitality in one form or another since leaving education and has lots of experience working in her family’s small village pub in Plumpton or more recently managing a real ale pub and a cocktail bar in London.
When not at work, Hannah is usually found in the kitchen baking macarons or cooking for friends and family. She loves going for long walks across the South Downs, although they usually end up at a country pub with a pint of ale!
Luke discovered his passion for wine whilst working for a wine merchants during university. After 6 years in the publishing business he followed his passion into the wine industry and undertook WSET courses where on completing his advanced level he knew viticulture was for him.
He starting working at Ridgeview in 2015 and supports Matt in the Vineyard in all things vine related as well attending courses at Plumpton college. Outside work Luke can be found hiking the Downs, planning adventures in the UK and abroad or cooking up dish with a good glass of wine in hand.
Founder & Director
Chris co-founded Ridgeview with Mike and has taken on a variety of roles within the business, and is now in charge of the Estate, its management, maintenance and expansion.
Chris has a unique eye for detail and problem solving so a new challenge or project is always welcome. Any spare time that Chris has is taken up with her passion for art and her (and Mike’s) four grandsons.
Verity is guardian of the Ridgeview Brand.
She joined Ridgeview in 2011 and is also responsible for Print Production, Website Development and manages relationships with our external creative agencies. She has heaps of experience in the drinks industry having worked for Diageo and First Drinks. She then entered the world of advertising and the drinks brands became her clients.
Outside work is spent enjoying time with her husband and two young children. She’ll always jump at the chance of trying out new restaurants and is passionate about great food and wine.
Executive Assistant to the CEO
Esther supports Tamara and the Management team with the day-to-day running of the business. Her experience of HR Management, Office Management and Executive Assistance keeps Ridgeview running efficiently. Esther previously worked as the EA to the Board of Directors at fashion jewellery company Icon Live. You can also see Esther representing Ridgeview at networking events.
Outside of work, Esther is a keen blind wine taster, environmental & wildlife champion and cyclist. She is a regular at the Glastonbury Festival each year.
Originally from Spain, Inma first worked as an IT developer. Upon moving to the UK she decided to change to a career wine and began studying at Plumpton College. Wine has now become her passion. Inma finished BSc Hons in Viticulture and Oenology with a Distinction and completed her first vintage in 2014 in Bordeaux.
Inma enjoys a variety of activities in her free time including running, skating, hot yoga and skiing but most of all spending time with her friends, family and young daughter.
Tiago Quadrio Caravela
Tiago is our other Portuguese import. Studying civil engineering and working in eco-tourism before moving to the UK. A key member of the production team, helping with machinery maintenance and manual labour amongst other important jobs.
Outside of work Tiago is a keen snooker player and enjoys music concerts and travelling.
Cristina Da Silva
Cristina joined the team in 2014 along with her husband Tiago. Originally from Portugal Cristina was a sales manager before moving to the UK to pursue a career in the Wine Industry. Her role in the winery involves all aspects of wine production from disgorging to delivery’s.
In her free time you can find Cristina relaxing with her husband and cat and a large glass of port.
