Tamara is responsible for the day-to-day running of the business, ensuring all areas are working together to achieve the best results.
Not much happens at Ridgeview without her knowledge. Outside of work Tamara likes to spend as much time as possible with her two children and never turns down an opportunity to have a few drinks with friends.
A natural winemaker with a skilled palate, Simon likes minimal intervention as a Winemaker and would rather let the grapes speak for themselves. Simon trained at Plumpton Wine College and gained experience in Australia. Now responsible for the day-to-day Winemaking at Ridgeview, Simon has the support of a fantastic team.
In his spare time Simon can be found coming up with culinary creations in the kitchen.
Our Aussie import grew up around vines and the passion has never left her. Mardi met Simon whilst working at Brown Bros Winery in Victoria, Australia and came over to the UK with him in 1999 and began the development of the Ridgeview brand. Her responsibilities include PR, Brand, Marketing and Communications.
Mardi enjoys establishing and maintaining relationships, especially with like-minded people who make her job fun.
Simon's key tasks are to look after the infrastructure of the buildings (whether utility services, IT or security).

Without fantastic grapes we have no wine and Matt Strugnell is responsible for making sure this happens. He started working for Ridgeview in 2002 and now has responsibility of all our vineyards in which he works tirelessly to ensure the highest quality fruit. Matt also provides valued advice & support to all Ridgeview’s partnership vineyards.
In his spare time he can be found star gazing or playing very loud rock guitar.
Jemma joined Ridgeview as Marketing Manager in December 2017. She started her career in Experiential Marketing working with many drinks brands before moving into strategic brand development in the wine industry. She worked across several wine portfolios at Accolade Wines where she further developed her passion for wine.
Outside work Jemma loves to spend as much time as possible with her family, exploring all things Sussex!
Hannah runs our tasting room and her smiling face will generally be the one to greet you on a visit to our Cellar Door. She is also the person to contact if you want more information on hiring the space for an Event or special occasion. Hannah has worked in hospitality in one form or another since leaving education and has lots of experience working in her family’s small village pub in Plumpton or more recently managing a real ale pub and a cocktail bar in London.
When not at work, Hannah is usually found in the kitchen baking macaroons or cooking for friends and family. She loves going for long walks across the South Downs, although they usually end up at a country pub with a pint of ale!
Chris co-founded Ridgeview with Mike and has taken on a variety of roles within the business, and is now in charge of the Estate, its management, maintenance and expansion.
Chris has a unique eye for detail and problem solving so a new challenge or project is always welcome. Any spare time that Chris has is taken up with her passion for art and her (and Mike’s) four grandsons.
Esther supports Tamara and the Management team with the day-to-day running of the business. Her experience of HR Management, Office Management and Executive Assistance keeps Ridgeview running efficiently. Esther previously worked as the EA to the Board of Directors at fashion jewellery company Icon Live. You can also see Esther representing Ridgeview at networking events.
Outside of work, Esther is a keen blind wine taster, environmental & wildlife champion and cyclist. She is a regular at the Glastonbury Festival each year.
Kate used to work in the City but much prefers the short commute to the foot of the South Downs. She has adapted her skills with numbers to assist the company’s Accountant and Management Team. Kate who also speaks Spanish and French is passionate about client service and enjoys working with our suppliers and customers.
As a committed foodie and enthusiastic wine sampler, Kate was drawn naturally to Ridgeview. She loves cooking for friends and hosting a party, these passions balanced by a love of cross country running and yoga. Kate is happiest when on a foreign adventure with her husband and two children.
Nisha joined us in November 2019 as Finance Manager. Having qualified as a CIMA accountant in 2007, Nisha went to work within a subsidiary of Tesco for 12 years. Wanting to extend her experience beyond a large corporate, she moved to an SME for 3 years before joining Ridgeview. Nisha is responsible for keeping all our finances in check- no mean feat! From the day to day running of the finance department and managing cash flow, through to providing key financial information to senior management and external stakeholders.
Outside work Nisha loves to read (a lot), watch movies and keep active; enjoying the gym and walks with family and friends (she completed the 3 Peaks in 2018 for charity - “it was tough but amazing!”) She also loves going to concerts and the theatre, this is all whilst trying to juggle the kids!
As Associate Winemaker Miguel is involved with supporting Simon with the day-to-day running of the winery across all production areas. Before joining the team at Ridgeview, Miguel worked for a number of wineries around the world as well as completing his BSc in Viticulture and Oenology at Plumpton College.
Outside of work Miguel enjoys spending time with his young family, water skiing in Portugal, and drinking Port.
Scarlet helps to run our tasting room and will generally be one of the team to greet you on a visit to our Cellar Door. She is also the person to contact if you want to book a group tour or hire the space for an Event or special occasion.
Outside of work, Scarlet loves exploring new and exciting restaurants particularly those with interesting wine lists. During the summer months Scarlet is quite often found catching a few rays in a pub garden in Sussex, with a glass of wine and a scruffy border terrier.
Our Ridgeview Bank Manager from inception, Graham supported Ridgeview’s growth for 20 years. With a passion for wine and a belief in Ridgeview, Graham joined us when he retired from banking at NatWest in 2016.
Before joining as our Non-Executive Director, Graham had over 30 years experience in banking and financial planning. Graham is a great support to our CEO Tamara in managing the financial growth of Ridgeview and is leading the project development of our phase three winery.
In his spare time Graham can be found enjoying holidays abroad or dining out with his family. With a fantastic palate and keen interest in wine and Graham has found the perfect way to avoid any ideas of retirement.
Brandon joined Ridgeview in 2016 and supports Tom in the sales team. A key focus for Brandon is Ridgeview’s personal relationships with the bars and restaurants that serve our wines throughout the UK. He can often be found hosting tastings for sommeliers and trade clients and is the face of Ridgeview at many trade events.
Before starting at Ridgeview, Brandon studied Wine Business at Plumpton College and worked in hospitality within the restaurant industry as well gaining industry experience at Dark Star Brewery.
Karen joined us as Compliance Officer in January 2020, responsible for ensuring all things safety & quality are in place, including our S.A.L.S.A. accreditation, SEDEX and other customer standards. She hails from bonnie Scotland originally, but now lives in Sussex with her husband, son and daughter.
Karen has worked in the Food and Drink industry for many years, with a B.Sc. in Food Science and working in quality and food safety for some international brands. She has been lucky enough to travel around with her work, visiting suppliers across the UK, Europe, South Africa and USA.
Karen enjoys pub quizzes (especially the Food & Drink round), cooking, and welcoming the summer with a glass (or two!) of our Fitzrovia Rosé.
Matt oversees the smooth running of the busy production team within Ridgeview which includes work-flow planning, supply chain management, stock control and resource planning.…. basically he knows the whereabouts of every single bottle of Ridgeview Wine within the business!
Prior to joining Ridgeview Matt had worked in hospitality, before jumping ship to the brewing industry in 2013, where he worked in a numbers of roles including brewing, sales and production management. After seeing the light, Matt joined Ridgeview in January 2018 but remains un-biases to which beverage he prefers to drink.
When not at work Matt enjoys going abroad (mainly skiing) and socialising with friends and family, normally revolving around good food and drink.
Chris is part of the production team and handles all logistics from finished products to dry goods, coming to and from the winery. As well as an office-based role, Chris enjoys being hands on and working in the winery with the rest of the production team.
Prior to joining Ridgeview in the Autumn of 2018, Chris worked for Miller UK in Northumberland, as Distribution Supervisor for 8 years, before moving south to Eastbourne.
When not at work, Chris is usually found on a rugby pitch playing for Eastbourne, his local team, followed by a knees-up in the club house with friends and family.
JJ is part of the production team and is the main man when it comes to disgorging and labelling. JJ works with other key members to manage demand planning and the schedule for both contract and Ridgeview orders.
Having completed a vintage in Australia, JJ decided to go to Plumpton to expand his knowledge. Following this he completed other vintages abroad and domestically before settling down at Ridgeview.
When not at work, JJ can be found spending time with wife Justine and socialising with friends and family.
After graduating from Portsmouth with a Maths degree, Tom left the country to work abroad for five years. Splitting his time between South Korea, where he taught English, and New Zealand, where he worked ski seasons in the winters and on a vineyard in the summers. It was that vineyard experience that sparked his interest in wine and viticulture. So, on Tom's return to England he decided to focus on developing a career in the burgeoning UK wine industry. He completed the WSET’s level two award in wine and spirits and began to work in the vineyard for Nyetimber. After a year working there, Tom moved to Ridgeview in January 2019 to continue his learning.
Outside of work you’ll find Tom either dreaming of mountains, in the mountains or finishing off a bottle of wine with friends.
Katharine started in HR over 4 years ago, after a previous career of business partnering in IT for various companies including multi-nationals and a national charity. She had always been interested in HR and when an opportunity came up to re-train as an HR professional, she saw that she could develop her HR interest and her business partnering experience for the benefit of business. Since starting in HR, she has had comprehensive experience in a multi-national engineering firm enabling her to learn operational HR and best practice whilst also gaining an international recognised HR qualification.
Her journey in wine started from when she could walk when her father frequently used to take her foraging for wild fruit to make his legendary home-made wine.
In her downtime, she enjoys living life by the sea with her family ( including a Labrador ) and loves to travel to unusual places – her last trip was trekking across the Jordanian desert.
Since joining Ridgeview in 2019 Martyn has quickly become a key member of our production team. An early career in television production saw Martyn working on food and wine programmes where he first developed a keen interest in the English wine industry. After moving to West Sussex a trip to Ridgeview inspired him to start a career in wine production, specifically Ridgeview and he hasn’t looked back since.
In his spare time Martyn likes nothing more than exploring the local food scene with his wife Kay and running the odd half marathon to burn off all of the calories.
Jack is part of the Ridgeview winery team and always busy in the cellar filtering, blending, racking and generally taking care of the wine from pressing through to bottling.
Having worked in the drinks industry in one way or another for most of his life, it was whilst working in a restaurant serving interesting, different and little known wines, that his interest in the winemaking process was sparked. To explore this further, Jack ended up travelling to America to work harvest at a winery in Napa and got absolutely hooked. As soon as he returned to England he found a job in a winery, before joining Ridgeview in January 2019.
When not at work he loves spending time with friends and family. Getting into London as much as possible to check out any new art exhibitions and enjoying a good bottle of wine or a pint of Cornish ale.
