Ridgeview shines in “The judgement of Parsons Green”

An impressive 10 of the top 30 wines in the 2013 English Sparkling Wine tasting were made by Ridgeview.

Arranged by Stephen Skelton MW, a judging panel of 14 of experts in sparkling wine including nine Masters of Wine gathered together to taste 83 Sparkling wines in the “The Judgement of Parsons Green”. The tasting also included four Champagnes and one Californian sparkling wine.

Wyfold 2009, grown by Laithwaites Wine co-founder Barbara Laithwaite took top spot followed by the Laithwaites Theale Vineyard 2007 in 2nd place; both wines were made in collaboration with the Ridgeview winery team.

Ridgeview Cavendish 2010 was awarded 4th position and 6th place went to Ridgeview Grosvenor 2009, cementing the winery’s position at the forefront of English sparkling winemaking.

Ridgeview – Sussex drink producer of the year

Ridgeview are honoured to have been awarded the trophy for Sussex Drink Producer of the Year at the Sussex Food and Drink Awards 2013. Over 350 Sussex food and drink producers and enthusiasts gathered together at Brighton & Hove American Express Community Stadium.

Guests received a seven-course banquet representing the best of Sussex food. Clive Beddall, Chairman of the judges, said: “All our grand finalists offer superb quality and innovation and reflect the rich diversity of the food and drink industry in this part of the world.”

The Sussex Food and Drinks award finalists were all nominated by members of the public and the ultimate decision was made by a judging panel after visiting the producers.  The trophies were presented by Sussex local Sally Gunnel OBE, patron of the awards.

Ridgeview’s General Manager Tamara Roberts, was there to collect the award on behalf of Ridgeview. Tamara commented;  “We are so pleased to be honoured with this great award of Best Sussex Drinks Producer.  This is an acknowledgment of how far English sparkling wine is now recognised locally, nationally and internationally with Sussex being at the heart of this.”

Ridgeview wins international sparking trophy

Ridgeview have been awarded a Trophy and Gold Medal in one of the most prestigious and influential wine competitions in the world, the International Wine Challenge (IWC) 2012.

Ridgeview’s blend Marksman 2009, made exclusively for M&S, sparkled in the competition which attracted entrants from over 50 countries around the globe and was judged by over 400 experts in the trade.

Charles Metcalfe, Chairman, commented about the significance of the IWC competition : “Its global reputation means that winning an award is a tremendous achievement, and brings the award-winning wine to the attention of an international audience”.

This latest accolade for Ridgeview rounds off a fantastic year so far with a Gold medal, Trophy, and 12 Silver Medals in International competitions. Ridgeview Bloomsbury was also chosen to be served for the Queens Official Diamond Jubilee receptions.

Ridgeview have now been awarded the trophy for the world’s best sparkling wine on three separate occasions, and our wines are exported to over a dozen countries around the globe including the USA, Australia and Hong Kong. Ridgeview also have listings in three of the top 50 restaurants in the world.

These continuing achievements mean that the current focus is on keeping up with demand with incremental but controlled expansion plans.

Ridgeview served at Diamond Jubilee Receptions

Ridgeview are honoured to announce that their English sparkling wine Bloomsbury 2009 was served at the official receptions to celebrate The Queens Diamond Jubilee at The Mansion House and Guildhall yesterday.

Following the national service of thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral, The Queen attended a reception at Mansion House where Ridgeview Bloomsbury 2009 was served.   The rest of the Royal Family went on to the London Guildhall for a reception for close to 2,000 people where Ridgeview Bloomsbury 2009 was again served.

Founder and Winemaker of Ridgeview, Mike Roberts, commented : “As a family we feel very proud that our English sparkling wine is being served on such a momentous occasion to celebrate our remarkable monarch, Her Majesty The Queen.  This is such a wonderful honour and acknowledgement of how far our English sparkling wine industry has come to be chosen for such a special Royal event”.

In May 2012 Mike Roberts received an MBE for his services to English wine at a ceremony in Buckingham Palace.

Jubilee English sparkling wine fever

Ridgeview have seen an incredible sales surge in the build up to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the 2012 London Olympics.  2011 was a record sales year at Ridgeview and already in 2012 our sales are up 58% on the same time last year.  May 2012 has been one of our biggest sales months ever on record.  Sales have tripled in comparison to the same period last year, which of course was also highly inflated from the previous year due to the Royal Wedding.

This tops off a fantastic month when Ridgeview were awarded 1 Gold, 9 Silver and 12 Bronze Medals in the 2012 International competitions announced at the recent London International Wine Trade Fair.  Ridgeview Knightsbridge (Blanc de Noir) 2009 was also recently awarded a Gold and one of only 12 wines as critics choice in the highly coveted Sommelier wine awards.

Ridgeview sparkling wines are now receiving global attention and are available in 10 countries worldwide including the latest addition of Australia.
